Kerin and myself believe that food should be good and good for you. After receiving a negative review a while back regarding the Diner's frozen biscuits and canned gravy, we set out to create higher quality food for the patrons of the 44th St. Diner. This past spring we launched a new menu with some of the biggest changes we've made in the last 10 years. Included on the new menu are made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits and made-from-scratch sausage gravy. Although not considered health food, we felt that we could really improve the quality of these diner staples by removing a lot of the unnecessary artificial ingredients and preservatives. Our plan is to continue to offer diner staples, but, prepare them in such a way to make them as natural and healthy as possible.
You will usually find Kerin and I in the kitchen. Kerin oversees all of the desserts, soups, and daily specials while also supporting me as I manage the daily tasks of running the business. You may see one or both of us from time to time cooking omelets, flipping burgers, clearing tables and washing dishes. Feel free to stop one of us and say hi the next time you visit the Diner. We hope you'll enjoy your experience at our restaurant!
